flashy for his rivals in his maiden

Manoel Munes, six times
champion jockey in Macau before coming to Singapore, recorded his treble at
Kranji tonight to bring his tally to 19 in less than two months.
Joao Moreira,
record-breaking rider for the past three seasons, cemented his lead with a
double to bring his score to 33.
But it was Moreira's fellow
countryman who stole the thunder early when he scored on his first ride of
the evening on LIGHTNING BALL who benefited from the use of blinkers and
tongue-tie to register his maiden win in two starts in the Fairmont Cup.
Munes followed up in the
next race to win on THE GREAT GREY before guiding PITSTOP to an upset win
over his stablemate GILT LAD, the odds-on favourite in the Blackberry Cup.
