After two operations and 22 months on the sideline, CORONET PEAK has enjoyed a spectacular comeback to racing with two third placings followed by four wins on the trot since August.

Ridden by Alan Munro, the South African gelding made all the running in the Kranji Stakes C event over 1200m on the polytrack at Kranji here tonight, staving off a late bid by SINGLE ACT before winning by a neck.

CORONET PEAK was placed four times in six starts in 2011 before he fractured a sesamoid and had an operation in which he was pinned and required eight months off.

"We put him back into work but he kept going lame so we sent him off for x-rays again. What occurred was the pin had caused a fracture in the sesamoid again so he needed another operation to pull the pin out and then he had another 10 months off," said trainer David Hill.

"I really thought he was a Derby horse before he hurt himself. I’d like to give him a bit of a break now."
