PHILANTHROPIST resumed from a five-month let-up and immediately picked up where he left off with a hard-fought victory in the Class 3 - 1200m sprint on the turf at Kranji here today.

Before taking his break, the Australian three-year-old won back-to-back wins in Restricted Maiden and Class 4 on the polytrack and showed today that he is back in business after a chop operation.

Ridden by Oscar Chavez, PHILANTHROPIST came from just off the pace to snatch victory by a neck from the fast-finishing IMACRUISER, making it three wins on the trot.

"I wanted to bring him back for the Singapore Three-Year-Old Challenge starting off with the Sprint race (on Mar 31), but I couldn’t get him to be ready on time," said traine Mok Zhan Lun.

"He’s improved a lot and I think he can win again," said Chavez who also partnered him in his first win back in August last year.
