overseas form SINGAPORE:

After struggling to find
his footing for a good part of the year since making his Singapore debut in
January, DON PLATENSE finally found his Argentinean form to win the
Benchmark 74 - 2000m event at Kranji here tonight.
The gelding raced 12 times
in his native Argentina for five wins which included the Group 2 Clasico
Forli over 1700m at San Isidro.
DON PLATENSE showed up for
the first time last time out when he finished second in a Kranji Stakes C
event over 1800m last month - his second start after being gelded.
Now racing more generously,
he followed that up to win tonight, completing a treble for the evening for
jockey Manoel Nunes.
"He took a long time to
acclimatise when he first got here. We eventually made the decision to geld
him,” said trainer Michael Clements who is hoping he will earn a berth in
the S$1.35mil Longines Singapore Gold Cup next month.
Sharing the spotlight with
Nunes tonight was leading apprentice A'Isisuhairi Kassim who also booted
home three winners.
