MYSTIC POWER returned to
racing after nearly five months to win the richest prize of the year, the
RM1mil Malaysia Magic Millions Classic over 1200m here today.
Ridden by Greg Cheyne who
has enjoyed a lot of success in limited appearances in Malaysia this year,
brought the four-year-old from just off the pace to win by one length from
BLACK AND WHITE who was aiming for his fifth consecutive win.
The race for three and
four-year-olds attracted a capacity field of 16 runners this year with one
entry, PETRENUI, from Singapore. The Brian Dean-trained gelding finished
fifth after setting the early pace.
MYSTIC POWER, who has cost
A$110,000 as a yearling, raced eight times for two seasons in Australia,
notching up three third placings including the listed St Albans Stakes at
Moonee Valley.
Here in Malaysia, the
Australian entire ran an eye-catching fifth in his debut before winning his
next two starts by big margins.
