Mr Raffles too speedy in Peugeot Trophy

MR RAFFLES claimed his first win for more than 12 months when he made all the running in the RM150,000 Peugeot Trophy over 1100m at Sungei Besi here today.

It was also his third outing since his transfer from Singapore to trainer Frank Maynard, improving one spot each time.

But MR RAFFLES had previously tasted success in Malaysia, having captured the Penang Sprint Trophy in July last year for trainer Michael Freedman.

On his return to Singapore, MR RAFFLES won again the following month but fared badly the next two starts before he was shipped to Kuala Lumpur.

MR RAFFLES won twice in four starts in New Zealand and picked up another six wins from 25 starts at Kranji. At eight, the New Zealand gelding is proving that he could still be a match for the best in Malaysia.
