First win of season for
Seet and HS Lim IPOH: May 26, 2013 |

After making a clean sweep of the seven races yesterday, Ipoh trainers again dominated the proceedings on their home ground today when they won seven of the eight races on the card. But the one with the most reason to celebrate among them was Evelyn Seet who finally saddled her first winner of the season with HORIZON LAD. And 'the one that got away' was won by Penang based trainer Lim Hoon Seng who also broke the duck for the season with TRACK RUNNER. HORIZON LAD won his only previous race for Seet in August last year after failing to pick up a win in Singapore. This season, he has finished on board in his last five outings, finding one to beat twice. But what a performance he gave today. Ridden by champion apprentice Yap Kin Yin, the four-year-old romped home by seven lengths in a Class 6 - 1600m handicap to clock 1min 34.7secs, just one-tenth of a second outside the course record held jointly by three horses: THE GURU and SMOOTH SAILING (both in 2000) and FREE SPIRIT (2009). For TRACK RUNNER, it was an even longer wait in between wins. His only previous success came in January 2011 but was starting for only the third time under Lim today. For his rider Davy Bonilla, it was his second win in Malaysia in three weeks. The Frenchman rode just two winners in the first four months of the year in Singapore, ending a stint six-month at Kranji with seven winners. |
