Ready To Strike bags Moonbeam Vase

Having finished on board in all his previous three attempts in group races this season, READY TO STRIKE deservingly made the breakthrough in the Group 3 S$200,000 JBBA Moonbeam Vase over 1800m at Kranji here today.

But it was a hard-earned victory, thanks to a masterly ride by champion jockey Joao Moreira.

Racing just off the pace early, READY TO STRIKE and BETTER LIFE tackled the leader LIZARRE inside the 200m and just got his head in front at the post in a thrilling three-way battle.

The success of READY TO STRIKE today was also a tribute to veteran trainer Laurie Laxon as the gelding missed a year of racing from the middle of 2011.

"That’s a horse I’ve always held in high esteem. I was preparing him for the Singapore Derby last year, but he went amiss and I sent him to Malaysia for a long break," he said today.

READY TO STRIKE has picked up four wins since his return to racing and has snow seven wins overall in 25 starts.
