Singapore discard TAICHI
MASTER is enjoying a new lease on life in spectacular fashion in Malaysia.
Ridden by Jose De Souza,
the Australian five-year-old scored a runaway win in the RM250,000 Sports
Toto Supreme Challenge Trophy over 1400m at Sungei Besi here today, his
fourth win in six starts since relocating here earlier this year.
TAICHI MASTER, purchased by
now-retired trainer Dr Yeoh Kheng Chye for A$140,000 as a yearling for Tivic
Stable, had a promising start to his career at Kranji, finishing second in
his debut before winning his next two starts.
But injury put him out of
action for one year but he was pale shadow of his old self although he
finished first-up third after the break. After beating one home in his next
outing, TAICHI MASTER was sent over here to join Richard Lines.
The Englishman has done
remarkably well with the gelding since. His three consecutive wins a couple
months ago was interrupted by unplaced run in the final leg of the Carlsberg
Cup last month when he returned lame near-fore.
But he bounced back in
style today.
