TOTALITY, who showed
promise as a three-year-old last year when he reeled off three consecutive
wins, finally realised his potential when taking out the S$200,000 Three
Rings Trophy over 1400m at Kranji today.
His hat-trick last year was
followed by a splendid second to SUPER EASY in the Group 2 Singapore
Three-Year-Old Classic. He then had another six runs with before he was sent
for a let-up.
The short spell did wonders
for TOTALITY. Ridden by Alan Munro, the New Zealand gelding managed to come
from off the pace early to snatch victory from last start winners TOUCH OF
GOLD and SAVANNAH DANCER. It was his fourth win in 19 starts.
"He’s always had a huge
amount of potential, but we’ve had to teach him to settle back all the
time," said trainer Michael Clements. "He was just too strong in his races
and I thought I’d just give him a spell. Though he came back fresh, he was a
lot more relaxed."
It has been a splendid week
for Epsom Derby winning jockey Munro. Last Tuesday, he made a successful
trip across the causeway and won the RM500,000 Tunku Gold Cup on REBEL FURY
for trainer Shane Edwards in Kuala Lumpur.
