Trudeau wins second consecutive group race

Arexevan Racing Stable's decision to geld TRUDEAU has paid off in a big way when he captured his second group race in the EW Barker Trophy over 1400m at Kranji here today.

The six-year-old resumed racing in September after his operation and caused a big upset in the the Group 3 Garden City Trophy (1200m).

With his then winning rider Corey Brown electing to ride DANIEL in the Group 2 handicap today, the ride on TRUDEAU went to A'Isisuhairi "Harry" Kassim.

The boom apprentice, who rode him just once before, seized his opportunity and rode a copy book race on the Australian gelding, coming from just off the pace to beat the two favourites HOLY EMPIRE and MR BIG.

It was the first group win for A'Isisuhairi who is enjoying a phenomenal year — his first full season — with 71 winners thus far and sits fourth in the table.

TRUDEAU was a promising juvenile in Australia when he started four times for two wins (at Cranbourne and Sandown) and a third. But he failed to follow that up at three when he managed just a third placing from six starts.

Sent over to Malaysia, TRUDEAU won his very first start which prompted his owners to quickly to ship him to Singapore where he has now chalked up five wins in 23 starts.
