Easy win for War Affair in Kranji Mile

WAR AFFAIR sweeping past MAGNETO to win the Panasonic

Comprehensively beaten by MAGNETO after a let-up in the Committee's Prize last month, WAR AFFAIR bounced back in style when he captured the S$500,000 Panasonic Kranji Mile over 1600m at Kranji here today.

Ridden by Danny Beasley, the New Zealand four-year-old won the Group 1 weight-for-age event by one and three-quarter lengths, leaving JOHNNY GUITAR and MAGNETO to fight out the minor placings.

Earlier in the year, the New Zealand gelding made a clean sweep of the Three-Year-Old series, winning the Sprint, Classic and Guineas in emphatic fashion.

Then came a four-month break and his first-up second in the Committee's Prize two weeks ago which obviously benefited him greatly for his sixth group win and second Group 1 success today.

WAR AFFAIR not only gave Beasley back-to-back win in the Kranji Mile (the Australian hoop won on CASH LUCK last year), it also provided him with his 400th win in Singapore.

Bought for NZ$70,000 as a yearling, WAR AFFAIR has won 10 times and placed in four races in 14 starts.
