It was more of a training
run than a race for AFFLECK in the $150,000 Magic Millions More Magic 3YO
Championship (1600m) at Kranji here tonight.
Having won the first two
legs of the More Magic 3YO Championship series over 1200m and 1400m earlier,
only six horses took him on in the final leg tonight.
But AFFLECK was even more
dominant than in the first two lengths, cruising to victory by five and
three-quarter lengths to make it six wins from seven starts for the New
Zealand gelding.
Earlier in the year,
AFFLECK had won the Group 2 Aushorse Golden Horseshoe and the Juvenile
Championship for two-year-olds.
"He’s pretty good for sure
against his own group, but the way he won tonight tells me he will become a
Group 1 galloper later in life," said trainer Laurie Laxon.
AFFLECK is the odds-on
favourite to bring off anther clean sweep, in the Singapore Three-Year-Old
series next year, featuring the 3YO Sprint, 3YO Classic and the Singapore
Guineas.
