Affleck starts 3YO campaign with a win

Juvenile Championship winner AFFLECK began his three-year-old campaign in style when he captured the S$100,000 Premier Racing Partnerships Stakes over 1200m at Kranji here tonight.

Partnered by regular rider Danny Beasley, the New Zealand gelding started odds-on and never gave his backers any anxious moment against six rivals, winning by one and a quarter lengths, clocking 1min 9.89secs - the fastest time he has covered over the distance.

AFFLECK was beaten just once, by KIWI KARMA in the Aushorse Golden Horseshoe last May, in four starts as a juvenile but has gained sweet revenge by beating the latter in two subsequent outings.

Tonight's run was his first since winning the Juvenile Championship last July.

"I’ll set him for all the available three-year-old races and he’ll definitely get up to 1600m," said trainer Laurie Laxon.
