New apprentice Aizat on the double

KUALA LUMPUR:  Jan 11, 2014

After just a couple of months on the scene, apprentice Mohd Aizat Abdul Malik was off the mark when he piloted PETITE VICTOIRE to victory for his master James Barry Brogan in a Class 5 - 1200m handicap at Sungei Besi here this afternoon. It was his 15th ride.

Two rides later, Aizat was back in the winner's circle, this time partnering the Frank Maynard-trained BRASH SON to make it a truly memorable afternoon for the young lad.

PETITE VICTOIRE finishied down the field in three starts in Singapore before crossing the causeway and made no impression in two more starts.

But he caught the eye in his final race last year when he flashed home third in a 1100m sprint at his home track here when partnered by Aizat for the first time. That led to today's success.

For BRASH SON, it was his second win in 13 starts but an unexpected victory for punters. He paid RM188 for a win.
