Apprentices Tham and Manif lands double

Tham Kin Chong and Mohd Kairi Hanif Mohamad landed a double each as apprentices stole the show here today when they won five of the eight races on the card.

The other successful apprentice was Mohamad Firdaus Mansor (MM Firdaus).

Tham had to work hard for his win on WIND OF SUCCESS, who prevailed by three-quarter but had a much earlier time on LUCK SUCCESS, trained by his master Nor Azman, who won by three and a half lengths.

WIND OF SUCCESS has now won eight times in 39 starts since early 2011. For LUCK SUCCESS, it was his second win in 11 runs.

The double elevated him to the top of the apprentice table with 11 winner thus far this season.

Hanif dealt punters a double blow with two big-priced winners.

LEE'S MELODY broke through for his maiden win in 12 starts to pay RM92. JACK OF HEARTS returned to the winner's enclosure since his only previous win in February last year to pay RM86.

But it was a bitter-sweet day for the lad as earlier in the day, he was given a one-month suspension for not riding to the satisfaction of the Stewards on SACRED DEW on May 31.

He was charged for standing up and stopping riding approximately 2½ strides before the winning post and in so doing, resulted in SACRED DEW dead-heating for 4th placing with SUPERFLY SISTER, which in the opinion of the Stewards, SACRED DEW would have finished in an outright 4th placing had he not done so.
