Balotelli scores runaway win

As if racegoers need any reminder of the looming football World Cup, BALOTELLI popped up to score a runaway win in a Class 4 - 1300m handicap here today.

Ridden by Razali Musa, BALOTELLI jumped well from his outside barrier and quickly moved to the rails to lead the 10-horse field. The New Zealand three-year-old then kept up a relentless gallop to win by five and a half lengths.

It was the second win in three starts for the gelding was was purchased by his owners for NZ$40,000 at the Ready To Run sale.

It was only the second winner of the season for Razali.

Racegoers were treated to the second head-heat in as many days when BOSS CAT and PERHAPS shared the honours in a Class 5 - 1100m handicap.

At Sungei Besi yesterday, it was HIGGS BOSON and GOLDHILL PRINCESS who could not be separated at the line.

For BOSS CAT, it was his maiden win in 12 starts while GOLDHILL PRINCESS, who had three previous wins, has not tasted success since August 2011.
