After finding one to beat
in his last two starts, expensive import BARNATO was back in the winner's
circle when he easily accounted for a Novice field over 1200m at Kranji here
tonight.
Ridden by Nooresh Juglall,
the Australian three-year-old made all the running to win by two lengths
ahead of newcomer FELAROF.
The odds-on favourite
HERMANO MENOR could only finish fourth.
BARNATO was knocked down
for A$300,000 as a yearling and was a Magic Million juvenile series winner
in his debut back in March, after which he found one to beat thrice in his
next four appearances.
A two-month break after his
last outing, also in a Novice event, helped freshen him up for tonight's
event.
"He’s a horse who’s had
many problems, but he’s always shown us plenty of ability," said his
Mauritian jockey who rode him once before for a second.
The big upset of the night
was provided by ANOTHER SON who came from a long way back to win drawing
away in the Initiation - 1600m event, returning $130 on the win tote.
