Although he did not win any
of the six heats, BLACK AND WHITE proved without doubt he is the top
three-year-old in the country when he triumphed in the RM200,000 Malaysia
3YO Championship (1400m) at Sungei Besi here today.
The Australian gelding was
prolific last year when he reeled off four consecutive races before
finishing third to the older FEISTY LEO in the RM1mil Malaysian Magic
Millions Classic (for three and four year olds).
BLACK AND WHITE won a fifth
race early this season before being spelled and transferred to trainer Ooi
Chin Chin in Penang.
BLACK AND WHITE resumed
racing early this month with a fourth to TRIPLE ONE D'BEST in a heat of the
championship but brushed aside all the rest with style today.
Ridden by Oscar Chavez,
BLACK AND WHITE was parked next to the rails in midfield before being
switched out gradually at the top of the straight. The favourite BALOTELLI
took the lead at the 300m but BLACK AND WHITE went after the leader and the
duo fought stride-for-stride to the post before the latter surged clear
close home to win by one length.
It is the biggest win for
first-season trainer Ooi Chin Chin.
