Bomb Cha Cha blew away

The number 13 may be unlucky for some, but not BOMB CHA CHA. Having never even run a place in his previous 12 starts, the Australian three-year-old surprised most punters when he showed early pace to dispute the lead with two other runners before taking control at the 800m. From then on, BOMB CHA CHA kept up a relentless gallop to win easily by two lengths from the odds-on favourite PERHAPS. The winner paid RM73 for a win. Apprentice Mohd Firdaus Mansor, who finished second to Rueven Ravindra (19 winners to 26 winners) in the apprentice table last season, seems determined to go one better this year. Indentured to trainer Malcolm Thwaites, Firdaus landed landed a double on SAPPHIRE STAR and SMALL TIGER to bring his tally to 12 for the season, just two winners behind the leader Tham Kin Chong. But Firdaus has the momentum behind him, having also notched a double on THE THINKER and ZAFONIC STAR last Sunday. |
