Candy Crush downs rivals for big payout

IPOH:  Jul 12, 2014

The battle between three-year-old CANDY CRUSH and the veteran galloper GEORGIE BOY highlighted the four-race programme for home based horses here today.

In his sixth season, eight-year-old GEORGIE BOY has five wins to his credit whereas CANDY CRUSH won just once in 13 starts. Both are trained by Nor Azman.

GEORGE BOY took the early lead but with no early pace on, FIRE GENERAL went to the front to quickened the proceedings. GEORGE BOY, however, regained the at the 600m.

CANDY CRUSH, who has been racing nicely in third spot in the six-horse field, moved up to second at the top of the straight. He hit the front at the 300m and was well clear at one stage. GEORGE BOY raised another effort in the final 100m and just failed to catch CANDY BRUSH by a short head. The winner paid RM85 for a win.
