It has taken four years,
and at eight years CAVORTING has finally landed his first win in the MRA
circuit when successful in a Class 5 - 1500m handicap at Sungei Besi here
today.
The son of Noverre was
imported to Singapore after winning both his two starts at three in
Australia but failed to show up in seven runs at Kranji.
Sent over to Richard Lines
here and resuming after nine months on the sidelines, CAVORTING showed up in
his first four outings in the country early last year but was disappointing
again after that.
However, a second and
fourth last month set the stage for his somewhat overdue win today.
Spotting blinkers for the
first time, CAVORTING took command on settling down and kept up a brisk pace
in front. He kicked clear at the top of the straight and was four to five
lengths clear at one stage but was eased down close to home to win by one
and three-quarter lengths.
It was a superb afternoon
for trainer Lines who saddled five winners including CAVORTING to kick start
his season which has yielded only eight winners before today. Lines has
topped the trainer's table for the past three seasons.
