BLACK COFFEE, who has
already won three times this season, proved too strong for his rivals once
again when he took out the Sovereign 1954 Handicap (Class 5 - 1400m) here
today.
After failing to show up in
his last two starts, the Australian four-year-old bounced back to beat eight
rivals by half a length. It was his fifth win in 37 starts in the country.
BLACK COFFEE has just two
runs in Singapore before he was shipped to Kuala Lumpur to join Richard
Lines who has the gelding under his care since the beginning of last year.
For winning rider Firman
Yap, it was a career milestone as BLACK COFFEE was his 80th winner.
Six races were scheduled
for the day but the last race was declared null and void after the runners
completed the course because of a false start. All bets were then refunded.
