After notching two wins for
champion owner Golden Knight Stable and trainer Kevin Coetzee, GOOD FLYING
opened accounts for his new owner and trained David Miller with a record-equalling
win in the New Straits Times Trophy here today.
Ridden by Yudanyl Aify, the
six-year-old bounced back to form to win by one and a quarter lengths in the
Class 4, Div 1 - 1600m handicap, and returned a time of 1min. 34.6secs.
The time was first set by
THE GURU in 2000 and equalled by SMOOTH SAILING in the same year. FREE
SPIRIT matched the time when carrying an imposing 61kg to win in 2009.
GOOD FLYING, purchased by
Golden Knight Stable for A$100,000 as a yearling, won two races in Perth
including the listed Perth Stakes at Perth before coming to Malaysia.
His career here was
interrupted by a 11-month layoff but returned to racing with a first-up win
last August.
