Double lifts Freedman's spirit after surgery

A double today is the perfect tonic for trainer Michael Freedman who is recovering in hospital after a surgery to mend his fractured collarbone.

BOGART, ridden by jockey Manoel Nunes who has partnered him in all his nine starts to date, chalked up his third win when he came from just off the pace to win the Class 4, Div 1 - 1200m handicap by one length.

The win goes some what to recoup his purchase price of NZ$155,000 which Freedman paid to secure him as a yearling.

Last minute replacement rider Tengku Rehaizat gave Freedman his second win when he piloted CHINESE CULTURE to victory in the Kranji Stakes C - 1600m event.

Original declared rider Noh Senari called in sick and Rueven Radvindra was nominated on the Face Value five-year-old. But the latter was indisposed after two races and Rehaizat stepped in at the last minute.

The 2012 champion apprentice seized the opportunity to steer CHINESE CULTURE, whose last of previous three wins came 12 months ago, to an easy victory.

It was just Rehaizat's third win of the season.
