Apprentice Ganeesh
disqualified one year KUALA LUMPUR: Apr 8, 2014 |
|
After withdrawing his appeal against a four-month suspension for his handling of CARBON COPY in Ipoh yesterday, apprentice Thanggarajaneesh a/l Munusamy (M Ganeesh) was today disqualified one year for his ride on JACK BAUER in Kuala Lumpur today. Ganeesh, who not granted a stay of sentence on his suspension, will serve his time from Mar 24 to July 23. He has also to pay a fine of RM20,000. JACK BAUER, when ridden by Ganeesh, finished fifth of six runners in Class 4 - 1500m handicap on a novelty meeting at Sungei Besi on Mar 22. The Selangor Turf Club stewards concluded an inquiry into the riding of JACK BAUER in the above race. Evidence was taken from Ganeesh in the presence of his master, trainer Frank Maynard and trainer Peter Fell, the trainer of JACK BAUER. Ganeesh was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(8) in that whilst riding JACK BAUER in the above race, he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure that JACK BAUER was given full opportunity of winning or of obtaining the best possible placing. The particulars of the charge were that from the 1000m to the 600m, he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures when he rode with insufficient vigour and did not allow JACK BAUER to improve its position through that part of the race which was all reasonable and permissible for him to do so. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account Ganeesh’s previous riding record and points of mitigation. After considering the provisions of MRA Rule 44(8)(a), Ganeesh was disqualified for a period of one year with immediate effect from Apr 8 and to Apr 7, 2015, both dates inclusive. He was also fined RM50,000 and advised of his right of appeal. Fell’s evidence was noted. Ganeesh subsequently exercised his right of appeal and applied for a stay of sentence. The hearing on the application for a stay of sentence will be held at a date to be fixed. |
