Goliath leads 1-2 for trainer Burridge

GOLIATH leads WILD GEESE home in the Marsiling Classic Stakes

Polytrack specialist GOLIATH, who found one to beat in DUJARDIN in the Group 3 New Year Cup on Jan 1, earned his first group success when winning the $150,000 Marsiling Classic Stakes over 1800m at Kranji here today.

The New Zealand four-year-old was third in the betting behind TROPAIOS and his stablemate WILD GEESE in a small field of seven runners.

Ridden by Corey Brown, GOLIATH got the better of WILD GEESE to win by one length with TRAPAIOS a long way back third. The gelding has now recorded all his seven wins on the polytrack.

The win was a nice break for trainer Steven Burridge whose last victory came on Feb 16 with WILD GEESE.

"It’s good to get the 1-2 as we’ve had a bit of a lean spell of late," said the Australian who was champion trainer in 2010 with 90 winners.
