David Miller saddled his
first winner since relocating to Sungei Besi last month when HARRYS PAL
captured the RM125,000 Carlsberg Cup - 1st Leg over 1200m here today.
It was also a return to
form for the veteran New Zealand gelding after landing back-to-back wins
early last year.
In July last year, HARRYS
PAL finished second to JOE CZARINA in the Sultan Gold Vase and managed just
two placings since before his upset win in the Carlsberg Cup - 1st Leg
today.
Ridden by apprentice Mohd
Hanif, HARRYS PAL led all the way to win by half a length to pay RM140 for a
win.
It was the fourth win in 24
starts in Malaysia for HARRYS PAL who also won four races in New Zealand
before coming over here.
The Carlsberg Cup is a three-race series
offering a total RM475,000 in prizemoney and a bonus of RM100,000 to any
horses who wins all three legs.
The second leg will be staged over 1400m on
Oct 12 and the final leg over 1600m on Nov 1.
