How Yang suspended four months

Jockey How Yang was today handed a four-month suspension for returning a positive urine swab here on Aug 31.

The Stewards concluded an inquiry into the above matter here today at the Perak Turf Club. Evidence was taken from Yang, who was assisted by court interpreter Wong Lan Lee and Chan Sue Hay, senior analyst of Usains Holding Sdn Bhd.

Yang pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 136(3)(b) and the particulars of the charge were that a urine sample coded "J2788" submitted by him on Aug 31, on analysis, revealed the presence of "Furosemide", which is a prohibited substance in terms of the MRA Rules.

In deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, mitigating factors and the circumstances of the case. Yang was suspended from riding in races for a period of four months backdated to when he was stood down from riding trackwork on Sep 12 to Jan 11, both days inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal.
