Ismadi celebrates first win as trainer

After months of trying, jockey-turned-trainer Ismadi Ismail finally saddled his first winner when K-POP triumphed in a Class 4 - 1200m handicap here today.

The icing on the cake was that it was his son Amirul Ismadi who piloted the Korean gelding to a two-length victory.

After winning two races last year, K-POP was spelled for seven months and returned to racing under Ismadi last month. Today's outing was his fourth for his new trainer.

K-POP was among a batch of three horses from Korea which landed in November 2011 for MAS Stable.

He made history when he became the first Korean bred to win a race in the local circuit when successful in a Class 4 - 1700m event in Penang on May 4 last year.
