For the second time in four
weeks, KIWI KARMA proves too good for the boys in this year's Aushorse
Golden Horseshoe series which will conclude in two weeks' time.
After finishing second in
her debut, the New Zealand filly easily defeated CONFEIGN and ROCK ESPRIT to
win the IRT Juvenile Stakes last time out.
KIWI KARMA, partnered by
Manoel Nunes, again led her rivals on a merry chase, leading from start to
finish to win by two lengths in the Magic Millions National Yearling Stakes
(1200m) at Kranji here tonight. This time, ROCK ESPRIT beat CONFEIGN for the
second placing.
"She’s improved a lot since
that last run," Nunes said of KIWI KARMA. "She’s much more relaxed now and
this was actually even easier than the last time. I almost didn’t have to
use my whip to win today."
For trainer Laurie Laxon,
it was his third win in four races of the series held so far. The kiwi also
sent out AFFLECK to win the Inglis Melbourne Yearling Stakes on Apr 20.
The fifth leg, the
Inglis Sydney Better Life Stakes, will be run
next Friday followed by the grand finale, the Group 2 Aushorse Golden
Horseshoe on May 16.
