Kieser lands first group win with Goal Keeper

GOAL KEEPER, who has already provided Theo Kieser with 10 wins, has also given the South African trainer his first group win when successful in the S$200,000 Paititi Gold Trophy at Kranji here today.

Ridden for the first time by Soo Khoon Beng, the Australian five-year-old made all the running but had to staff off a determined challenge by HYPERNOVA before winning by a neck in a small field of six runners.

Nevertheless, it a breakthrough moment for Kieser who was former assistant to Laurie Laxon before branching out on his own in 2009.

"This is very special for me and is definitely going up on the wall so that I can remember this moment every time I walk into my office," said Kieser.

GOAL KEEPER has been out of the winner's circle for almost a year but during this time he has finished second in the Group 3 Garden City, second in the Merlion Trophy and third in the Group 1 Lion City Cup.

His Paititi Gold Trophy outing today was his first since contesting the KrisFlyer International Sprint for the second year running in May.
