After spending a year in
Malaysia, KNIGHT SPIRIT has returned to Singapore better than ever.
Ridden by Koh Teck Huat,
the eight-year-old came from last at the home turn to win the Class 3 -
1200m handicap on the polytrack at Kranji here tonight, matching his best
ever win before he moved up north.
It was also his second win
of the season since his return and he shocked punters tonight with a $265
payout after starting as the least-backed runner in the 12-horse field.
The Australian gelding,
purchased by Brian Dean for A$25,000 as a yearling, got his career off to a
fantastic start with three wins and a second in his first five runs in 2010.
KNIGHT SPIRIT managed just
one win but numerous placings the following two seasons before he moved to
Malaysia where he picked up one solitary win for trainer Wee Mung Hua.
With Wee ceasing his
operations at the start of the year, KNIGHT SPIRIT was among a batch of
former Singapore gallopers who returned to Kranji to join trainer Desmond
Koh.
