Laxon lands 10th Singapore title

SINGAPORE:  Dec 14, 2014

The much anticipated battle between Laurie Laxon and Alwin Tan for the 2014 trainer's title failed to materialise at Kranji here today.

The warring duo won five races between them from a card of nine on Friday night, with Laxon winning three and taking a three-winner lead in the final day of racing today.

Laxon drew a blank today but Tan could not capitalise on that, saddling just one winner (DRAGON SPIRIT) in the final event.

So Laxon collected his 10th trainer's title in Singapore with a final score of 80 winners, two more than Tan who enjoyed his best season ever.

In just his second season in Singapore, Manaol Nunes is the runaway winner in the jockey's premiership with 108 winners, 25 more than second-placed Danny Beasley.

Nunes missed the final day of action here to ride SPALATO in the Longines Hong Kong Sprint but the gelding finished 12th of 14 runners.

A'Isisuhairi Kassim retained his champion apprentice title with 35 winners but the haul was a far cry from his 73-win total last year when he finished fourth in the jockey's table.
