After riding in Kuala Lumpur yesterday, former Malaysian champion jockey Jackson Low jetted down south to partner CALIFORNIAN JET and the trip paid off when won the Tsim Sha Tsui Stakes (Class 4 - 1600m handicap) on the Australian gelding.

It was a triumphant reunion for both horse and jockey as Low rode CALIFORNIAN JET to victory twice in Malaysia before the gelding moved down south to join Cliff Brown in Singapore. Winner of four races in Malaysia, it's the gelding's first success at Kranji.

It was Low's only ride at Kranji today but it wouldn't be his last.

"I’m moving here at the end of this month and I know it’s going to be tough and that everything starts from the beginning once I ride here but I’m going to work hard and hopefully get the support from the other trainers and owners," said the champion apprentice in Malaysia in 2006 and champion jockey with 65 wins in 2011.

With racing in Malaysia going through difficult times, Low is the third high profile rider this year to seek better prospect down south, joining last season's top two Malaysian apprentices Rueven Ravindra and Mohd Firdaus Mansor at Kranji.
