Having been placed in three
major races in the past 12 months, MONEY MACHINE deservingly captured his
first trophy when successful in the RM200,000 Carlsberg Cup - 3rd Leg over
1600m at Sungei Besi here today.
Ridden by Jai Shankar, the
Australian seven-year-old started favourite and never gave his backers any
anxious moment, jumping out in front and led his rivals on a merry chase.
MONEY MACHINE was some six
lengths clear of the field at the top of the straight kept up a relentless
gallop in the run home, and was eased down close home to win by two and a
quarter lengths.
MONEY MACHINE won twice and
was placed four times in 13 starts in Perth before trainer Shane Edwards
brought him over to Malaysia when he relocated here.
In Malaysia, the gelding
has won four of 12 starts and his three placings came in the Coronation Cup
(second) and Yang di Pertua Negeri Gold Cup (third) last year, and the Piala
Emas Sultan Selangor (third) last June.
