After finally finding
consistent form in Malaysia, NEOBIUM returned to Singapore with a first-up
win in the Benchmark 67 - 1400m sprint at Kranji here tonight.
The Australian gelding
managed just one placing in five starts when he first landed here in 2012.
He was then transferred to Frank Maynard in Kuala Lumpur.
After an unplaced debut, he
did not finish out of the board in nine starts after that, winning two of
his last three outings before the decision was made to bring him back to
Singapore.
Ridden by A'Isisuhairi
Kassim, NEOBIUM came from last at the home turn to score by a head in a
three-way photo. Second-least backed runner in the 10-horse field, he paid
$170 for a win.
"It’s good to see him win
for us here as he’s had a few problems with his legs," said trainer Steve
Burridge, who had him originally in Singapore.
For A'Isisuhairi, it was
third time lucky on NOEBIUM as he had ridden the four-year-old twice in
Kuala Lumpur for a fourth and a third.
