Pioneer Seven back in winning form

PIONEER SEVEN, who reeled off a hat-trick of wins in the first half of last year before given a six-month break, was back in the winner's circle with an impressive win in the Kranji Stakes A sprint over 1100m on the polytrack at Kranji tonight.

The Australian gelding has been running back to form after his spell on the sidelines. Last time out, he three away his chances with a slow start and was beaten a head by HUKA FALLS over 1100m.

On the strength of that run, PIONEER SEVEN started odds on and never gave his backers an anxious moment, leading from start to finish to win by one and a half lengths.

"This horse was so crazy in the past," said Nunes who also partnered him in all his three wins last year. "But he’s improved a lot. He’s still a big baby in the head, but it’s a big satisfaction to see him improve."

It was the fifth win in 13 starts for the gelding who cost just A$20,000 as a yearling.
