Apprentice Rueven Ravindra, who starts serving a one-month suspension tomorrow,
made sure he gets into the winner's circle before he goes on his enforced
leave at Sungei Besi here today.
Partnering TRACK HERO in
the opening race today, the newly-crowned 2013 champion apprentice was in
the rear bunch early. But with no pace and his seven-year-old pulling his
head off, Rueven decided to head to the front racing to the 1200m and the
pair never troubled, winning by two and three-quarter lengths.
It was a comeback victory
for TRACK HERO who won three races in 2011 but drew a blank in the last two
years.
Today's meeting was the
first of many Selangor Turf Club has lined up for home based horses,
offering half the normal prize money.
Rueven finished sixth
overall in the table last year with 26 winners but he was charged and found
guilty of not riding to the satisfaction of the stewards on CAVORTING in
Ipoh last Sunday.
