Ivaldo Santana suspended three months

SINGAPORE:  Nov 27, 2014

Jockey Ivaldo Santana, one of five expatriate jockeys who have been granted six-month licences for the 2015 racing season, has been suspended three months from yesterday for his ride on DARCI BRAHMA in a Class 3 - 1200m sprint last Sep 12.

DARCI BRAHMA, trained by Michael Clements, finished 10th to WONDERFUL PRINCE, some five lengths from the winner.

The inquiry into the run of DARCI CHARMER was concluded yestersay. Santana, the rider of DARCI CHARMER, was found guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) in that he failed to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards in that shortly after passing the 300m, he failed to ride his mount with sufficient vigour for the remainder of the race.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record and the nature of the charge. Santana was suspended from riding in races for a period of three months with immediate effect from yesterday to Feb 25, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal.
