Two-year-old HELLO SAYANG
took advantage of a huge "pull" in the weights to register a stunning
victory in her debut here today.
Carrying only 44.5kg
against a 12 three-year-olds, the Australian filly was one of the firsts to
break but was tucked just behind the pacemaker and favourite WANG CAI on the
rails by jockey Henry Barnabas.
As WANG CAI drifted out
making the turn into the straight, HELLO SAYANG got a dream run on his
inside, hit the front 150m out and drew away to win by five lengths in the
soft going.
Trainer Chong Keng Leong,
who normally buys from the Magic Millions sale in Perth, paid A$60,000 for
HELLO SAYANG at the Adelaide sale.
Her sire is a Breeders' Cup
Mile winner while her dam, also American bred, won six races including two
listed races.
