Newcomers RISE 'N' SHINE
and WONDERFUL PRINCE, both ridden by leading jockey Manoel Nunes, lighted up
Valentine's Day at Kranji with impressive wins in the their Singapore debut
tonight.
RISE 'N' SHINE followed up
on his impressive trials in New Zealand and Singapore to win drawing in the
Restricted Maiden - 1200m sprint on the turf after trailing the field early
but unleashing a terrific run in the final 200m.
RISE 'N' SHINE is well
bred, being out of a stake-winning mare who was also twice placed in both
the Group 1 Telegraph Handicap and Group 1 Waikato Draught Sprint behind
DARCI BRAHMA and SEA CHANGE.
Which was why his owners Te
Akau Racing Stable has to go to N$130,000 to secure him at the sales.
WONDERFUL PRINCE, New
Zealand bred but raced twice in Australia with two fifth-place finishes at
Geelong, ran his rivals off their feet with a four-length victory in the
Kranji Stakes D, Div 2 - 1100m event on the polytrack.
WONDERFUL PRINCE arrived in
Singapore just under three months ago and was registered and trialled just
in time for tonight's race.
