Snitzel Spirit completes hat-trick

SNITZEL SPIRIT took advantage of a huge pull in the weight to complete a hat-trick in the Progress - 1400m event at Sungei Besi here today.

The Australian gelding got in the set-weight event at 50kg with the rest of the field carrying at least 57.5kg.

With Manoel Nunes, who rode SNITZEL SPIRIT in his first three starts for a two wins and a second, having been booked on another horse in the race, Saifudin Ismail picked up the ride and did extremely well to overcome rough passages to get EAGLE STORM home a head in front of EAGLE STORM a small field of five after two horses were scratched on course.

It was SNITZEL SPIRIT's first start over distance after three races over 1200m.

"The way he won suggests he will get further. He is out of a Thunder Gulch mare and I will definitely step him up in distance next year," said trainer Michael Freedman.
