Passed in at just NZ$5,500 at the yearling sale, STIRLING showed his true worth when scored a runaway win in his racing debut in the Initiation - 1200m sprint at Kranji here tonight.

Ridden by Danny Beasley, the New Zealand four-year-old ran his 10 rivals off their feet, leading from start to finish to win by four and a half lengths.

Describing him as a raw talent, Beasley said" "He showed us good ability on the tracks, but was a little stirred up tonight. I didn’t want to lead but he flew the gates and I thought I’d just let him do his own things."

STIRLING gave Laurie Laxon his 73rd win of the season and a six-winner cushion from Alwin Tan at the top of the trainer's table with just seven meetings to go before the season ends.
