Eagle Storm blows away rivals over the mile

After playing bridesmaid five races in a row, EAGLE STORM blew away his rivals with a runaway win in the Benchmark 74 - 1600m handicap at Kranji here tonight.

His run of heartbreaks followed his only previous win over 1200m on the polytrack back in January. His subsequent runs have been up to 1400m.

Sent over 1600m for the first time tonight, EAGLE STORM came into his own, leading from start to finish to win by two and a half lengths.

"I was just speaking to his owners down in Australia and told them he was always going to do well once we got him over the mile. I felt it was going to be a nice distance for him," said trainer Brian Dean.
