HAPPY SURPRISER, who had
finished down the field in six runs this season, sprang a big surprise when
he carved out a narrow in the opening race here today to pay RM281 for a
win.
The Australian gelding
started out in late 2009 and had a win in 2011 but was most successful last
year when he chalked up three wins.
With the going heavy after
a heavy downpour, HAPPY SURPRISER was fully tested but came through with a
neck-win.
Another runner who had a
reversal of fortunes was COCONUT. The Australian four-year-old was no better
than eighth in all his runs this season but came through to win easily. It was his maiden win in 20 starts.
