Kif Toh scores in Singapore riding debut

Two years in New Zealand (where he rode in two races) and a year riding trackwork back in Singapore paid off for Kif Toh when the apprentice scored in his first ride on LEAVE ME ALONE at Kranji here tonight.

Given the chance on the Australian gelding who has run up a series of unplaced runs since his last win in September last year, Toh seized the opportunity with both hands, steering the six-year-old to a shock win.

LEAVE ME ALONE, who has four previous wins (three in 2013), won drawing away by two and a quarter lengths and paid S$329.

"It feels like a dream. I never thought I could have won in my first start here,” said Toh, who graduated from the Singapore Training Academy for Racing (STAR) programme in 2011.
