TWICKENHAM storms home to win first-up after a let-up

It's four wins from six starts for promising galloper TWICKENHAM when he captured the S$100,000 Racing Guide Classic at Kranji here this evening.

Ridden by A'Isisuhairi Kassim in the Benchmark 83 - 1400m event, the Australian four-year-old tracked the pacemaker GOLD RUN from the start before racing past the leader to win by one length, with the odds-on favourite WONDERFUL PRINCE a well-beaten third.

TWICKENHAM was coming out of a three-month let-up after finishing unplaced in his last start. Prior to that he has reeled off three consecutive wins.

"He’s a hothead type of a horse and certainly not an easy horse to handle. He got a bit wound up after his last start and had had enough," said trainer Stephen Gray.

TWICKENHAM was purchased for A$115,000 at the Horses In Training Sale and his connections are looking forward to next year's Four-Year-old series with the gelding.
