Apprentice Zuriman lands first group win

Kelantan-born apprentice Zuriman Zulkifli landed his first group win when he partnered KNIGHT'S COMMAND to victory in the S$150,000 Admiralty Classic Stakes over 1600m at Kranji here today.

The Group 3 event saw two up-and-coming horses SLEW OF LODE (four wins in five) and CORDOBA (unbeaten four starts) commanding the betting.

Favourite SLEW OF LODE set the pace and was heading for his fifth straight win when KNIGHT'S COMMAND and SPEEDY CAT came along to make it a three-way fight to the line.

KNIGHT'S COMMAND, who returned to form winning his last two starts, did best in the run-in to beat SPEEDY CAT by three-quarter length.

"This is my first Group win and this is the moment I’ve waited all my life," said Zuriman who started out in Malaysia in 2011 before making the switch to Singapore the following season.
