Apprentices strutted their stuff on the eve of the Sprint
Trophy when they won six of the eight races on the card here today.
It took two former champion jockeys, Martin Wepner (2006)
and Jai Shankar (2013), to prevent the lads from making a clean sweep of the
card.
Daniel Jagadishan, riding for the first time away from his
home base Ipoh, kicked off the meeting with a shock win on MAGICAL TEN who
paid RM271 for her second win in 16 starts.
Daniel, one of seven lads from Mauritius who are learning
the trade in Malaysia, has now won four races.
CUTTING TORCH, who finished down the field in three
previous starts, also sprang a surprise with Lim Aun Kean in the saddle,
returning RM136 in the Perth Racing Trophy.
TRY THE CHANCE found the end of a
long lane in the Royal Turf Club Of Thailand Trophy, breaking the duck in his 27th start to pay RM139 with
Wepner astride.
